In Switzerland, nearly 160,000 people currently live with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. Almost 34,000 new cases are diagnosed each year, and by 2050, the number of cases could rise to approximately 315,000. This means that in Switzerland, one person develops dementia every 16 minutes, with around 5% of cases occurring before the age of 65.
Tension headaches and migraines are the two most common types of headaches experienced by patients. Globally, approximately 1.3 billion people suffer from migraines, with women being affected three times more often than men. Additionally, 50% of migraine patients have a family history of migraines.
Strokes can be caused by brain infarctions or brain hemorrhages. Each year, approximately 16,000 people in Switzerland suffer a stroke. It is the third leading cause of death and the mosst significant cause of long-term disability in adults.
Various studies show that nearly one in four people suffers from sleep disorders. Approximately one in ten experiences difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep. Physical and psychological factors can impair healthy sleep. Persistent sleep disorders increase the risk of numerous diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, or brain-related conditions like dementia and strokes.
