Yulia Valko is a neurologist with an expertise in the field of dizziness and balance disorders, which is rare in Switzerland.
Growing up in Uzbekistan, she completed her medical studies in Tashkent in 2003, where she also completed her residency in neurology in 2006. In 2010, she earned her Swiss medical degree and obtained her doctorate from the University of Zurich in 2012. Yulia Valko holds the SGKN certificates of competence in electroencephalography (EEG) and electroneuromyography (ENMG) and she completed her Swiss residency in neurology in 2019. Most recently, she worked as a senior physician and head of the gait laboratory at the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital Zurich (2020-2023). She has always been scientifically active, which has included completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School in the Jenks Vestibular Physiology Laboratory, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (2011-2012), publishing in renowned journals, and she was awarded the Venia Legendi for Neurology by the University of Zurich (2023).
