Bettina Anders is a specialist medical practitioner for neurology and studied medicine continuously in Freiburg im Breisgau.
Following a vascular-oriented training with a focus on acute stroke, stroke research, neurovascular ultrasound (including membership in the DEGUM/DGKN) with Professor Dr. med. M.G. Hennerici (UMM, University of Heidelberg, founder of the European Stoke Conference ESC), she then completed training on the neurointensive care unit with Professor E. Keller at the University of Zurich. After over two years of training, she obtained the certificate “Additional Qualification in Neurointensive Care” (D).
Ms. Anders has been involved in numerous studies as a study physician, including ECAS-III, TIA Registry, Wake-Up, Space-2, and INTERACT-2, among others. She has also published a scientific paper on cardiac abnormalities in acute stroke patients, which demonstrates a deep understanding of cerebrovascular diseases.
In addition to the vascular focus, Ms. Anders has been interested in psychological-psychiatric issues since early on. In almost two years at the University Psychiatric Clinic Basel (UPK, Professor U. Lang), she was able to gain more in-depth knowledge, particularly in gerontopsychiatry (dementia and its treatment) and the therapy of depression.
Since 2019, Ms. Anders has been working as a specialist and senior physician at BMG (Neurozentrum/Neurological Clinic Hirslanden).
Since 2020, she has specialized in headaches, migraines, and other complex neurological pain conditions. She is a member of the Swiss Headache Society and is a pain specialist according to the Swiss Pain Society.
The treatment options offered include all common current procedures (including CGRP antibody therapy, ganglion sphenopalatinum blockades, botulinum toxin, and N. occipitalis blockades). Through cooperation with other pain centers, almost all options can be covered in very specific cases (lidocaine/ketamine infusions).
