Localized damage to peripheral nerves is very common. Carpal tunnel syndrome for example is one of the most common conditions, which causes painful tingling and numbness in the hands at night and disturbs sleep. It is caused by a trapped nerve in the wrist. Compression syndromes in other locations, as well as inflammatory nerve damage, can also cause pain, discomfort, and paralysis. When multiple nerves are affected at the same time, it is called polyneuropathy. Other diseases that cause paralysis, such as ALS, also fall within this diagnostic spectrum.
The diagnosis of nerve injuries relies heavily on high-resolution ultrasound diagnostics, which we are able to offer at our centers. This is done through close cooperation with neurosurgeons, as well as hand and plastic surgeons. We can also offer a precise diagnosis of the resulting neuropathic pain and offer treatment options in collaboration with leading pain therapists.
